Growing up, my grandmother had a "growth chart" on the door frame of her kitchen door and I absolutely loved measuring at it. It had all of us grandchildren and it was so much fun to look at!
The Maddox family, however, tends to move around quite a bit. The house we currently live in is the 8th residence that Brandon and I have lived in since getting married 13-1/2 years ago {including stints of living with parents while house hunting, building, etc.} and the 4th house we've lived in since having children.
In our 1st home after having Ian we had a "growth chart" in our kitchen, but it was the door frame, so we had to leave it. We did snap a picture before leaving, but I can't find it right now. In our last house, I started having the kids leave their handprints & footprints on the wall in our bonus room...
...but, it was on the sheetrock, so we had to leave that, too. And, I even forgot to take a picture of it before we moved!
So, when I started seeing hand crafted growth charts on Pinterest - growth charts that can move when you move - I knew we had to have one!
Brandon & I got to work and are absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out!
We chose to mark the kids heights with tags and oversized thumbtacks, rather than just writing directly on the wood.
The kids have had such a fun time looking to see how tall they were at certain ages and, for the boys, looking to see who was taller at each year!
You can't see it, but we even added Dad and Mom's height to it. I am so excited to have this that we can take with us always, adding the kids, their kids...and even their kids' kids!
